I LOVE the layered look of dainty necklaces worn at different lengths but I stopped wearing them because they would constantly get twisted together and look like a mess. Usually the clasps would come to the front of my neck and become entangled with the other chain. It was so frustrating and definitely NOT the look I was trying to achieve!
As a handmade jewelry artist, I knew there had to be a way to fix this problem and with the thousands upon thousands of jewelry supplies I have at my disposal, the solution just had to be in front of me.
I created this really simple DIY layered necklace detangler and I’m sharing the instructions here. It’s really easy and takes just a few minutes.
However, if DIY isn’t your thing, you can purchase the detangler in my store already made. 🙂

Supplies needed (these can be found at any craft or jewelry supply store):
- 1 Slider Clasp (I’m showing a 2-strand clasp, but slider clasps come in a range of 2 to 5 strands)
- 2 Spring Clasps
- Pliers to make the detangler
Step 1: Using your pliers, open the loop for each spring clasp and attach to one side of the slider clasp.
Step 2: Position your 2 necklaces as below.
Step 3: Attach. Here’s how it looks when attached.
